Unit 1: The Fragile Planet
Unit Objective
To create an awareness in you that Earth is a unique ecosystem that has reached a critical stage in its development, and that geography can contributeue to a more holistic understanding.
Specific Curriculum Outcomes (SCO)
1.1 To familiarize you with the characteristics that make Earth unique. To nurture in you an appreciation for the fact that Earth has an environment that is unique in the solar system, ones whose whole is far greater than the sum of its parts.
1.2 To have you gain a greater appreciation for geography as a discipline and how it can enable you to gain a better understanding of planetary patterns.
1.3 To have you appreciate the potential critical situations facing the planet.
